The standard dose is usually a 1cm ribbon of ointment placed inside the lower eyelid 5 times daily (approximately every 4 hours while awake).
Application Technique:
Wash your hands thoroughly.
Tilt your head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid.
Squeeze a 1cm strip of ointment into the pocket formed by the eyelid.
Do not touch the tube tip to your eye, eyelashes, or any surface.
Close your eye for 30 seconds and blink several times to spread the medicine.
Duration: Continue using for at least 3 days after the eye has healed to ensure the virus is completely suppressed.
Common side effects include a mild, transient stinging sensation immediately after application. Some patients may notice "punctate keratopathy" (tiny spots on the eye surface), which usually resolve once treatment stops.
