Ciprotab is a "dual-purpose" antibiotic indicated for:
Ophthalmic (Eye) Use: Treatment of Bacterial Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) and corneal ulcers caused by susceptible strains of bacteria. It effectively reduces redness, swelling, and purulent (sticky) discharge.
Otic (Ear) Use: Treatment of Otitis Externa (Swimmer's Ear) and chronic suppurative otitis media. it helps eliminate the painful bacterial growth in the ear canal that causes itching, pain, and foul-smelling discharge.
Finish the Full Course: You must continue using the drops for the full 5 to 7 days prescribed, even if your symptoms disappear after 24 hours. Stopping early allows the strongest bacteria to survive, leading to a "relapse" and antibiotic resistance. Avoid Contact Lenses: Do not wear contact lenses while you have an active eye infection. The preservative in Ciprotab can be absorbed by soft lenses and cause irritation.
For the Eye (Ophthalmic):
The standard dose for conjunctivitis is 1 or 2 drops every 2 hours while awake for the first 2 days, then every 4 hours for the next 5 days.
Tip: Wash hands, tilt head back, pull down lower lid, and instill drop without touching the eye with the bottle tip. Press the inner corner of the eye for 1 minute.
For the Ear (Otic):
The standard dose is 3 to 4 drops into the affected ear canal 2 to 4 times daily.
Tip: Lie on your side with the affected ear facing up. Instill the drops and stay in that position for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the medicine to penetrate deep into the ear canal.
In the eye, users may experience a brief stinging or burning sensation, a "gritty" feeling, or a white crystalline precipitate (crusting) in the corner of the eye, which is harmless. In the ear, mild itching or localized discomfort may occur. If you develop a skin rash, hives, or swelling of the face, stop use immediately and consult our pharmacist.
